Do you hear what I hear?

When our baby girl was born last month, what the doctor said was music to my ears.

Unlike what another doctor said when my elder son was born in 2017!

After taking him for his hearing test back then, the doctor said, “His right ear is working fine.”

“What do you mean? What’s wrong with his left ear?” I thundered.

“Nothing may be wrong. It just didn’t pass the test. Sometimes this happens. We’ll try again tomorrow,” replied the doctor to my relief.

This time, before our baby girl was taken for the test, the doctor said:

“We’re taking her for the hearing test. Sometimes it takes 2–3 attempts. Don’t be worried if we don’t confirm the positive results right away. We’ll try repeatedly and update you once the full test is done.”

Her words and wisdom were soothing music to my ears.

I’m not sure if you heard what I heard from her response, but she set me up for success by communicating clearly and aligning my expectations.

Takeaway

If you have vital information, don’t retain it.

Lay it out clearly and align expectations.
