As we buy a bunch of stuff for our new-born baby girl, the image below reminds me of the wide gap between purchasers and users.
Many children’s products fall into the same trap.
Brands often tend to use cartoonish fonts and childish themes to sell children’s products to parents.
While the actual product needs to be aimed at children, the marketing, messaging, and method of that delivery need to be solely aimed at the parents.
This should also reflect in the understanding of the UI and UX that matter to both purchasers and users.
While marketing, and even in the external brand packaging, many such brands often talk to parents as if they’re talking to children.
Even if the product is for children, we need to speak in a manner that convinces an adult parent, not a child or baby.
