Segmenting Sanders

“The chicken is delicious!”

That’s the opening line of the 15-minute movie, A Recipe for Seduction – a partnership between Lifetime & KFC.

Last Wednesday, I posted about this movie as a preview and got three different responses from some lovely folks who subscribe to my daily blog

The first person emailed me saying she won’t be watching the film because it would make her want to eat more KFC.

The second person said my post was confusing.

The third person is from Kentucky and she said my post cost her 30 minutes!

It was so outrageous to her that someone would make a movie out of the iconic food symbol from her state that she had to go online and know everything about it.

This corny chick flick won’t make you cry a KFC bucketful, but it definitely appeals differently to different people.

That’s where marketing comes in – to help ensure that you’re always talking only to the people who would be engaged and excited by your story.

Takeaway

Know your audience and pack it with those who might be fanatical fans while removing the rest.

How do you segment your audience? Drop me an email and let me know.

If you're not thinking segments, you're not thinking.
