I heard you’re on Tinder.
Don’t deny it.
If you’re on your website’s ‘About’ page, it’s the same as being on Tinder.
If your profile on that page is boring, your prospects are going to swipe left. Ouch!
Your ‘About’ page needs to tell them that you (and your team) would be great people to work with.
Instead, we often use it to tell them the highlights of our work with career summaries.
The standard bio talks about how many years we’ve been in many famous organizations managing millions and how we’ve settled in a city with a spouse, 2 dogs, and 3 kids!
If they want to know about your career, they’ll go and check your LinkedIn profile.
If they want to know about your family, they’ll look you up on Facebook.
Instead, invest in this opportunity to tell them something about yourself that they won’t get to know anywhere else. Tell them why you’re different and, yeah, dateable!
Remember, the goal of your ‘About’ page is to make them swipe right – take action to know you more!
Some people think they know who you are when they really don't.
Takeaway
- This page is not called the ‘About your career’ page.
- It’s called the ‘About’ page.
- Make this page about you, not your career.
