Learning how to mar-cat
Fri, Aug 14, 2020
A recent Amazon purchase saw my cats teach me a marketing lesson.
Cats love cardboard packing boxes!
They will sit, sleep, and play in them as if they were truly God’s gift to catkind.
To ‘upgrade’ playtime, I replaced all the boxes with fancier cat toys.
But in just a few days, I regretted the decision.
While the toys looked inviting, Biscuit and Cookie found them too complicated to enjoy, missing the utility and fun the boxes provided.
Likewise, if our websites and emails are qualitatively superior but are saturated with complex jargon and unrelatable content, then users will bounce off, unengaged.
If they cannot relate to your brand, then they cannot truly connect with you and will seek out a connection elsewhere.
The user experience trumps everything else at the start, and we should aim to market a memorable experience!
Building a good customer experience does not happen by accident. It happens by design.
Takeaway
Or they won’t know you gave anything at all!
Let me know if you’ve struggled with new versions or upgrades and wanted the previous experience.
