Please like my page

Every month, I get at least one invite from a friend to like their LinkedIn or Facebook page for their brand or business.

Since most of these pages are least relevant for me, I don’t oblige.

I’ve not told them yet why or what I think they could/should do about it.

Maybe they’ll see this post, or if you ask others to like your page, this might be some food for thought.

Instead of cashing in your chips with your near and dear ones by asking them to like your page, try this:

A. Target market

  1. Create a list of people in your network who would be ideal prospects.
  2. Ask them to take a look at your page and then consider referring it to at least one person in their network who might benefit from this page.

B. Non-target market

  1. Create a list of people who are not target-market members but will respond.
  2. Ask them for feedback on how to make your page better.

Focus on your network connections or their opinions and observations, and they’ll more than just like your page.

Takeaway

People will like your page when they really like it, not when you ask them to like it.

What do you do when someone asks you to like their page? Drop me an email – I’d like to know.

Instead of better glasses, your network gives you better eyes.
