Who’s teaching whom?

Most marketing blogs are like one-way traffic.

Such a blog typically has a marketer sharing his or her thoughts daily, weekly, fortnightly, or monthly with its subscribers.

While sharing insights and teachings on my daily blog, I’ve been bowled over by how much I’ve learned instead from my subscribers

Every week I receive feedback (both positive and critical), validation, questions, and even some manna!

In fact, tomorrow I want to share a story that a subscriber shared with me.

Before the first subscriber signed up, I promised myself that I’d respond within 24 hours of receiving any response.

I’ve almost always kept that promise because these responses are in turn fast becoming a source of learning for me.

Thank you for replying often to my daily blog and teaching me as well.

Marketing is built upon a relationship that has dual-sided conversations, not a transaction that offers one-sided content.

Takeaway

You can learn even when you teach, especially in marketing.

If you’re a blogger, share your best learning moment.

I am quite correctly described as ‘more of a sponge than an inventor'.
