Cost of a quarter
Thu, Mar 18, 2021
Julie Stratton had just read the book The Go-Giver and decided to apply a lesson in generosity at her retail store.
She sells gifts, clothing, and more for women and kids, but her store also has a candy machine that dispenses Skittles, M&M’s, etc., for a quarter.
She and her store employees decided to give all “good little shoppers” a quarter and a bag to put the candy in (with the adults’ permission).
Sure, it cost them a few quarters, but it resulted in little hands being busy and well-behaved while mothers were relieved and able to shop longer in peace.
As the days went by, the little ones were seen dragging their moms to the store knowing that they’d be treated well – with a smile and some candy.
Julie sent me this story as a response to one of my manna and summarized it with her takeaway that I fully endorse and happily relay below.
Takeaway
Now that’s marketing! And it’s definitely worth the cost of a quarter!
Let me know what you think of Julie’s learning and feel free to send me your learning to share with others, too!
