Words
Mon, Oct 19, 2020
The greatest skill that marketers can possess is not strategy, automation, or metrics.
It’s communication because at the end of the day it’s only words that tug at those heartstrings and make the biggest impact.
Wrong words can also have a negative impact as The Richards Group, a leading ad agency based right here in Dallas, revealed the truth that no leader is more powerful than his words.
Stan Richards, the 87-year-old founder, reportedly looked at an ad campaign for Motel 6 last week and commented, “It’s too black”, referring to the racial/cultural mix.
Motel 6, Home Depot, and Keurig Dr Pepper immediately cut ties with the agency and other big names might follow.
“It’s too black” is sadly an insensitive comment any day but especially in 2020.
It’s only words that have the power to build or break your brand in an instant.
It’s the one thing that you need to master as a marketer if you’re looking to take people’s hearts away.
