A few clicks later, he cracked the code and tweeted that KFC’s ‘following’ list comprised the 5 ‘Spice Girls’ and 6 popular guys named Herb – a genius nod to the Colonel’s secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices!
The Twitterverse pounced on this genius marketing move as if it was a KFC bucket.
KFC didn’t drop $$$ for a new marketing campaign.
They didn’t promote the Easter egg hunt on social media.
They didn’t run an ad with the featured celebs.
They simply used a small, sweet, and strategic stroke that was set up for success in secret – watching patiently as a keen Internet sleuth blew up the brand’s brilliance!
