Let it go

Like most other kids, Caleb loves ‘Frozen’.

Recently, while watching the popular song ‘Let it go’, he asked me another one of his tough questions.

“Dad, is Elsa singing this song to herself? I don’t see anyone near her.”

“Yes, why do you ask?”

“Why would anyone talk to themselves? Don’t they already know what they’re going to say? If you’re talking, shouldn’t you talk to other people?”

And in a 30-second burst, Caleb laid bare the social media plans of a million brands.

We already know what we’re thinking, and on social media, blogs, etc., we tend to keep talking to ourselves with very few listening, engaging, and responding to us.

Instead, we need to find ways to talk with others because conversation – not content – is king.

So if you’re frozen in your marketing efforts, aim to:

  1. Carve a niche to talk about
  2. Post high-value and helpful content
  3. Aim for conversations instead of just comments

Takeaway

On social media, are you talking to yourself or conversing with your community?

When it comes to conversations, would you mind telling me if you’re just letting it go or actually letting it grow? Click here to share your thoughts.

The more your copy sounds like a real conversation, the more engaging it will be.
