Curiosity sold the cat
Tue, Jun 23, 2020
In 2019, a certain king went on a Twitter spree, pulling up and liking his people’s 10-year-old tweets.
Among the elect were social media influencers who were left clueless, curious, and confused as the tweets referenced everything from microwaves to rainy days.
As 140-character SOSes went out in hopes of finding out just what Burger King was up to, the burger emperor answered them all with a single tweet:
“Some things from 2010 are worth revisiting – like your old tweets. And funnel cake fries. Get them now for a limited time.”
Royal, indeed!
Burger King leveraged the confusion that was created by the chaos to inject the right amount of curiosity. The buzz was brilliant, and sales hit the fan. What a whopper!
The fans rejoiced as the funnel cake fries served up a successful marketing campaign that was truly fit for a king.
Curiosity doesn’t kill the cat; it kills the competition.
