Don’t thank God it’s a Friday

If you have to TGIF, then you’re probably not a marketer (or even a salesperson).

I realized early on in my marketing career that marketing is not a job. It’s a career, and for those who really get it, marketing becomes a calling to channel their ultimate cause.

When I finally got it, I observed how marketing was like a sponge – you can only disperse as much as you have absorbed.

Saying TGIF would be like thanking God that your workout is over for the day. If you hate your workout or are doing it with the attitude that ‘you’d rather not do it’, pretty soon you’ll not do it.

I’ve learned that the more I learn marketing, the more impactful I am at whatever I do.

The days that I do not gather marketing manna are the days that seem long and dry – quite like the days when I’ve not had my quiet time with my Father.

So I choose to learn marketing even on the weekends by observing life.

In fact, I’ve learned more from observing people and circumstances over the weekends and holidays than from blogs and e-books! In future posts, I’ll be sharing some amazing marketing insights I’ve gathered from watching my toddler play, my wife shop, and waiters serve.

Today, I TGIF because it’s His gift. For the next two days, I get to watch for free and learn something that will change the way I market from Monday onward.

Don’t count the days. Make the days count.

Takeaway

  1. How does the weekend make you feel about the workweek?
  2. Does that attitude reflect how you approach what God has called you to do?
  3. Is a change in attitude warranted? And can that help you to be more fruitful?
