I’ve had clients open up to me about the most unexpected topics – business partner problems, family issues, and even asking me for advice about letting their team members go. 

I have a really low EQ, so it can’t be me. 

I then realized when this has mostly been happening – at the start of Zoom calls. 

I’m always in the Zoom room 5 minutes before the call starts.

If clients get there ahead of time, we get a few minutes to chat before others join the call. And sometimes if it has been a long day, they let their hair down. 

As a marketing agency, our job doesn’t stop at helping clients with their marketing needs. It stops only when we help clients all the way. 

Sometimes, when they get into such private conversations and their teammates join us, they’d pause and continue sharing at the end of the call. 

I check in on them later with the hope that things have improved because being in marketing means that we’re also in the people business, not just the customer acquisition business.
