Again & again

Two Mondays ago, I wrote about a marketing gem that my pastor, Sam Chacko, taught me during his sermon.
But then he did one better the week after.
He didn’t introduce a revolutionary new marketing pointer.
Instead, he just repeated that same point again.
But this time, he explained it another way.
It reminds me of how Jesus taught people using parables.
Out of His 40 parables, He used 12 to explain what the Kingdom of Heaven/God was like.
He would begin with “The Kingdom of Heaven/God is like a…” and then continue by explaining how it was similar to something different each time – such as a mustard seed, leaven, hidden treasure, dragnet, wedding feast, fig tree, etc.
If you’ve ever calibrated a fingerprint scanner on your device, you know the feeling!
The device analyzes a single fingerprint in different positions (each time with greater detail) layer after layer, until it gets the full and accurate picture.
Retargeting normally works in a similar manner, where people see the same ad 7–8 times in the form of online ads or on social media before they buy.
We have a thick skull and often the best way to break through is repetition.
However, the best teachers don’t just repeat.
They rephrase it again and again so that we can understand it in many ways.
That helps us see the bigger picture through many lenses to make a well-informed decision.
