Watch your words

Caleb, my 4-year-old, taught me another marketing lesson without even realizing it.
His mouth is like the ancient British Empire because the sun never sets on it.
He can keep speaking non-stop, asking us questions, talking to himself, and whatnot!
Often his conversations are very interesting and important, but sometimes you just long for silence.
On one such day last year, when he was chirping away, I told him, “Caleb, I wish I could invent a turbine that would run on your non-stop conversations and generate electricity for free.”
And surely, he asked me about inventions, turbines, electricity, etc., right after that.
Just this past week, he suddenly stopped his own conversation and asked me, “Dad, you remember that turbine you wanted to make that would take all my words and make electricity?”
I was stunned. How did he remember it? It was so long ago when he was three.
“Yeah, I remember. But how did you remember that?”
“What do you mean, how? I remember everything you say.”
And then I realized how we tend to remember all the good and bad things that brands say.
We may not recall them every minute of every day, but we can remember them when we want to.
