Danish design
Wed, May 19, 2021
How does Copenhagen (CPH) rank as the world’s best city for biking with 50% of its bikers commuting daily?
Dallas (where I live) is 10X the size of CPH, but the latter sees people biking a million miles daily, even through the dark Danish winter.
Enter Danish design!
Danish design is renowned for its focus on simplicity and function.
Whether you’re talking dining chairs, apartment buildings, or motorway bridges, Danish design understands and accommodates the user and context.
This concept is worth Googling for its life-altering design nature that accomplishes two key goals:
- Foundational incentive to adopt a newer lifestyle
- Frequent encouragement to reaffirm new lifestyle
Foundationally, CPH has been redesigned to give bikers a big reason to begin biking.
Frequently, CPH is innovating to enhance their experience daily (as seen in this image).

You can’t just create a road and sell bikes, and expect people to wheel off.
Likewise, you can’t just create a product and expect people to try and buy.
