Spartans, hold!
Thu, Apr 23, 2020
United in skill and patient in timing – that’s the magic combination that sets winning teams apart.
If you’ve watched the movie 300, you’ll remember the scene where the Persian forces are charging at the Spartans for the first time. The Persians run in hordes while a disciplined Spartan army stays in lock-step, blocking the narrow pass at Thermopylae.
As the Persians scream for blood and get closer, the Spartan blood starts to boil, especially as King Leonidas orders, “Give them nothing, but take from them everything!”
But the king’s wise and experienced captain keeps the temperature under control with the magic words – “Spartans, hold!”
He knew that timing was key. Yes, the Spartans could have also advanced and channelled their aggressive emotions into ruthless slaughter. But often, there is greater value in knowing when to strike to optimize your returns.
Captain Artemis wasn’t a captain of King Leonidas’ army for no reason. How is the captain in you timing your team’s marketing war?
Time is an illusion, timing is an art.
