Misunderstanding Mitch McConnell

Who longs to be a fan of Mitch McConnell these days?
He is no longer the leader of the Senate.
He isn’t liked by Trump and subsequently, by his base.
He is probably the manifestation of the “GOP establishment” to any Republican who hates DC elites.
On the other hand, he also has earned the wrath of Democratic supporters over decades.
That said, when Axios’ Jonathan Swan told him, “You are known for playing a ruthless style of politics”, Mitch had a surprising response.
McConnell laughed, then replied “I didn’t realize I was known for being ruthless. I thought, and my wife thinks I’m a really nice guy. My kids like me. I got a lot of friends. I’m shocked to hear such a comment.”
We all think highly of ourselves and our brands.
Almost always, we think better of ourselves and our brands than others think of us.
Sometimes, we also think that our inner circle’s perception of us and our brand is everyone’s perception of us and our brand.
