This is how Caleb went to school recently …
Two completely and outrageously different socks!
“What happened to your socks?” I asked him, as we were about to leave for school.
“What happened?” he shot back.
“They are not a pair,” I said.
“So?”
Silence.
He was right.
I wanted things to be normal and expected.
A flag went up in my mind the minute it was not.
He wasn’t wearing them for attention.
He is just 5.
He loves wearing mismatched socks, because for him, socks are more about fun than function.
Takeaway
Being different might be uncomfortable for some, but unforgettable for most.
