Clothing the chasm

Last week Apple launched the revamped Macbook Pro, but the product that stole the limelight was a piece of cloth.

Well, it’s not just any piece of cloth but a Polishing Cloth!

According to Apple, the cloth is made with a soft, non-abrasive material that can clean any Apple display, including nano-texture glass, safely and effectively.

As if other cloths sit around and play the tambourine instead of being effective options for cleaning devices safely!

The funniest part is that Apple is charging a whopping $19 (plus taxes) for this glorified rag.

For sure, Apple will sell millions of Polishing Cloths, but this is desperation from Apple and not the innovation we had hoped for.

Instead of crossing the chasm of innovation and leading from the front, Apple is slowly starting to use polishing cloths to cover up its desperation.

What next? A magnetic mouse pad for $49?

Takeaway

Even the best marketing can’t save a bad product

I’d like to know, would you buy this $19 piece of cloth for your devices?

Great marketing only makes a bad product fail faster.
