Freedom is never free

Freedom is probably the greatest yearning of all.

Animals yearn to live freely in their natural habitats.

Humans will do anything in their search for freedom.

Citizens want to be free in their own nations.

But all of this comes at a cost.

Animals steer clear of humans to enjoy their restricted freedom.

Humans pay with their lives while nations are subjected to civil wars – all for freedom.

It’s one thing to be independent, but it’s an entirely different thing to be free.

Maybe that’s why on that 4th of July, the founders of this nation signed a Declaration of Independence, not a Declaration of Freedom.

Tomorrow, the U.S. will celebrate its 244th Independence Day to mark its liberation from British colonial rule.

But take a look at our streets today – it’s hard to believe that we’re living in the land of the free.

If there’s one concept that never needed to be explained, it’s freedom.

If there’s one concept that really needs to be marketed today, it’s freedom.

We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.

William Faulkner
