Marketing #metoo

Sometimes people and brands don’t know how to take NO for an answer.

Whenever I try to invite someone to a meeting on my Google calendar, as soon as I type their email, Google issues a Google Meet code and mentions it as the ‘location’ of the meeting (see image below).

I (and millions around the world) prefer Zoom to Google Meet and hence have to manually replace the Google Meet code with the Zoom link every time.

Hey Google, please stop forcing yourself on my meeting and trying to make me meet up at your place.

If you really want to make me use Google Meet, improve your offering so that I’ll switch my appreciation and allegiance from Zoom.

I must acknowledge that this inconvenience is nothing compared to the harassment and abuse that women are forced to endure, but both have no place in modern society.

Takeaway

No brand must ever force itself on a customer. Respect your customer and their choice and learn to take NO for an answer.

Are you forcing your customers to do something they don’t like doing? Pause, reflect, and drop your thoughts here.

We don't want to push our ideas on to customers, we simply want to make what they want.
