Meet Meta

One of the biggest brands in the world changed its name, and I can’t find a single person who cares.

Facebook changed the name of its parent company to Meta, and this paint job really looks like lipstick on a pig.

That’s because as one of the least trusted tech companies, Facebook continues to ignore the $800 billion gorilla in the room – that Facebook is increasingly doing more to harm our lives than help.

You can’t wash away all that bad press with a new name.

Facebook should have begun by acknowledging the error of their ways, sharing a clear roadmap for redemption, and getting started on that journey.

Instead, it’s just aiming to whitewash the past, and that never works.

Marketing is a process that helps you reposition your image in your prospect’s mind, not a magic wand that can help people forget your unflattering history.

Takeaway

To reposition yourself in the minds of your prospects and customers, you need to replace what’s not working well – not just rename yourself.

Are you even 1% excited that Facebook is now called Meta? I’d like to know!

Progress is impossible without change, and those who can’t change their minds cannot change anything.
