What if I’m not a Project Manager or interested in being one?
Good question! If you know folks in your network who are in project management, please do them and us a favor by forwarding this opportunity to them.
So what does 40 Parables do?
Since 2015, 40 Parables has been a strategic MarTech firm that has helped many Christian ministries share their stories better.

In 2022, one of our pivots created our first product, Bleat, an assessment platform for the missional world. Thousands of ministry and church leaders are now using assessments built by Bleat. Our hands are full, and that’s why we need your help to perfect this pivot.

Sounds cool! How can I know more?
Bleat? Yes, that’s our product’s name, and the dictionary defines it as the wavering cry of a sheep. That’s why it is also the name of our assessment platform, as it helps churches evaluate themselves and know their congregations better by listening to the voices of their sheep.

Feel free to check out our website later on, when you get a chance: www.bleat.church
Our new product is just two years old, and we’ve already built 50+ assessments for clients, and things are only getting bigger faster!

That said, we need more hands!
Teamwork makes the dream work! Just look at these guys 👇
That’s why we are hiring a Project Manager to help us better manage and seamlessly deliver assessments that can help the Church embrace change.
Interesting! But as a Project Manager, what exactly will I be doing every weekday?
As a Project Manager, you would:

1. Scope out the complete requirements of our clients and their various projects in that account and translate all their needs into features.

2. Assign tasks to our content, design, and tech teams for execution, and coordinate multiple teams and team members seamlessly.

3. Manage weekly/biweekly client calls with various team members, including agendas, minutes, video recordings of calls, etc.

4. Live in our project management tool, Asana, daily, manage projects, and make progress.

5. Update tasks every week and reassign priorities as needed.

6. Manage multiple projects for multiple accounts for multiple clients.

7. Deliver fully built online assessments to our clients on time according to the schedule set out in the contract.

8. Strategize and suggest improvements to assessments beyond the original scope of work.

9. Report how effectively we are delivering assessments when measured against the original scope, project quote, and opportunity costs.

10. Take full responsibility for the execution of all the projects from start to finish within a particular account. The buck stops with you, period.
That sounds comprehensive. What kind of person would be equipped to be successful in this role?
We believe the right person for this role will:

1. Understand how a vehicle is the sum of all moving parts and constantly drive it forward by moving multiple pieces ahead simultaneously.

2. Be experienced in working with multiple team members, teams, and maybe even clients.

3. Have prior experience managing teams and projects.

4. Have excellent communication skills across email messaging, summary writing, follow-up mailing, and report-creating.

5. Analyze data and reports to suggest product improvements.

6. Care for our prospects to ensure that they are always taken care of, responded to, and served well.

7. Be organized and meticulous about documenting information in a way that makes retrieval by anyone easy and instant.

8. Be innovative by nature and a lifelong student of how to improve prospect and client engagement as well as internal processes and systems.

9. Spot creativity where people see clutter and visualize coordination where people spot chaos.

10. Love our project management tool, Asana, or take to it like a duck to water.
That sounds exciting! What will I gain and learn from this experience?
Let's start with the gains.
1. A well-compensated role: We believe a worker is worthy of his wages (1 Tim 5:18). So we’ll compensate you fairly for your capability, capacity, and career experience.
2. Time off: This role isn't your life. Your life is your life, and you need time for it. We offer sufficient time off (public holidays, vacation, and sick leave) to ensure that you’re working to live and not living to work.

3. Flexible working conditions: We’ve been remote since day one in 2015.

You can count on flexibility as your friend—as long as it’s communicated in advance, deadlines are not affected, and teammates aren’t left hanging.

However, it’s mandatory to attend our online weekly meetings and in-person internal hackathons that take place every quarter in Bengaluru.

Hope you’re willing to travel because it’s going to be fun! And of course, your travel and stay are on us, and we take great care of our people. 😊
Thanks! But most decent companies offer these basic benefits. Tell me more about the real learning benefits.
1. Great learning opportunity for someone who is interested in SaaS products, digital marketing, client servicing, etc.

2. 24/7 access to many SaaS MarTech tools we use daily (ActiveCampaign, Typeform, Mouseflow, etc.) that can help you become a smart product developer

3. Great opportunity to work with a global team across the Atlantic as well as interact directly with our ministry partners that are helping to fulfill the Great Commission

4. 1:1 mentoring to ensure you’re growing in your skill

5. Upskill workshops to support you in your growth journey
6. Great opportunity to learn and showcase new skills at our internal quarterly hackathons
All that sounds good, but how will I know if I’m a good fit?
We hate jargon such as self-motivated, proactive, team player, etc. What do those terms mean, anyway? We’re intentional about adding every teammate because we can run only as fast as the slowest member of our team.
This role is a good fit only for those who can handle these 10 commandments daily:

1. We believe everything we do is unto the Lord, and we’re accountable to Him. If you don’t believe the same, we totally understand that, and thank you for reading thus far.

2. We’re far from perfect and have many shortcomings, but by God’s grace, our team has had a zero-ego policy from day one. If you can’t leave your ego at the door, it might not be worth knocking or trying to enter.
3. As innovators, our primary enemy is mediocrity. We’ll hold you (and ourselves) to the highest standard. If excellence isn’t your pal, chances are we won’t be either.

4. Iron sharpens iron daily at 40 Parables. We depend on honest, constructive, and critical feedback to refine our sabers. If you can’t handle feedback, you might not be able to handle our efforts to enter through the narrow door.
5. You’ll get to unlearn and relearn almost everything you know about product development. A posture of humility, a keen ear for listening, and an attitude of lifelong learning are mandatory for innovators like us.
That’s great! I love to learn, and I’m already learning a lot about what this role will look like. Please keep going.
6. Extreme ownership is a value that we aim to live out daily. We’re looking for people who are mindful of the big picture and can responsibly see things through entirely.
7. We always echo Nicolas Hayek’s quote: “Everything we do and the way we do everything sends a message.” That’s why we love people who pay attention to detail and have their heads in the game.

#sherlockmuch

8. We’re quick to hire those who are quick to adapt. We’re a product startup that’s growing bigger and faster! So, we expect our team to be agile and keep up. If you’re someone who prefers an easygoing job, we might make good friends but not great colleagues.
9. We’d prefer if you had decent product development experience or could pick up really, really, really (hoping you got the emphasis) fast. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at it for two or 20 years; we want someone we can pass things on to, rely on, and move on.
10. We collaborate best with those who ask questions and challenge the status quo, not those who blindly take orders and follow the crowd on the broad road to mediocrity.

So,

I’m excited and would love to apply for this role. Tell me, how do I get started?
It’s simple! Here’s what the process looks like:

1. You can start by clicking this link to introduce yourself and upload your resume - Apply here

2. We’ll review your submission and email you about the next steps.

3. If we are a good fit for each other, we’ll email you a mock test (or two) for you to complete within a timeframe.

4. We’ll review your responses and get back to you with the results.

5. If you’ve fared well, we’ll conduct a few interviews as the final step.
Sounds like a plan! Can I test the role for a bit?
Yes, you can!

We want this to be a win-win for both of us, so we’re more than happy to have you intern with us for one whole week, where you will be assigned multiple tasks to help you get a feel of working with us.
That’s great! One last thing: What does your onboarding process look like?
Great question! If you’re hired, you will start on a 3-month probationary period where your work will be evaluated.

During this time, you will also be paired with a buddy and a mentor who will help you find your bearings and get you up to speed.
We hope that clarifies things for now. We can’t wait to hear from you and look forward to working with you to take care of our Father’s business!
