What if I’m not a marketing coordinator or am not interested in being one?
Good question! If you know someone in your network who’s a marketing coordinator or would like to be one, please do them and us a favor by forwarding this opportunity to them. Thanks a ton in advance!
Sure thing! So what does 40 Parables do?
40 Parables is a strategic MarTech firm that helps Christian ministries share their stories better.
But we don't want to start talking up our company and boring you into considering us. Instead, we want to make this conversation all about the role that you (or someone in your network) may be interested in.

Yeah, I can Google your company for the basic info. Can you give me more context instead?
Absolutely! We’re in our sixth year of helping ministries build marketing plans and execute them.
That said, we’re launching some big initiatives this post-pandemic year and we need help – lots of it!

In fact, what this guy said below is true about us.👇
That’s why we're hiring a marketing coordinator to stand in the gap and bridge our leadership and marketing team toward greater fruitfulness.
Interesting! But as a marketing coordinator, what exactly will I be doing every weekday?
We need help with a specific set of tasks such as:
1. Coordinating marketing deliverables between our leadership (CEO + COO) and the marketing team via Slack and Asana
2. Coordinating conversations with our clients and prospects via email and relaying them to the marketing team via Slack and Asana
3. Organizing and maintaining documentation and files for our clients on Notion
4. Scheduling and calendaring client meetings, workshop sessions, and demo days
5. Assisting our leadership with market research, communication, coordination, etc.

That sounds specific, indeed. Now what will I gain and learn from this experience?
Let's start with the gains.
1. A well-compensated role - We believe a worker is worthy of his wages (1 Tim 5:18). So we’ll compensate you fairly for your capability, capacity, and career experience.
We don't want you thinking about paying bills with a second job. We want to pay fairly for your full attention and abilities.
We don't want you thinking about paying bills with a second job. We want to pay fairly for your full attention and abilities.
2. Time off - This role isn't your life. Your life is your life, and you need time for it. We offer sufficient time off (public holidays, vacation, and sick leave) to ensure that you’re working to live and not living to work.
3. Flexible working conditions - We’ve been remote from day one in 2015. If you need to run an urgent errand in between, go for it. Want to plan your schedule around gym time? Sure, pump it up.
You can count on flexibility as your friend – as long as it’s communicated in advance, deadlines are not affected, and teammates aren’t left hanging.
We trust our team to get the work done on time, and they do it faithfully. We've never cared how and where they do it, and don't plan to start caring now.

Thanks! But most decent companies offer these basic benefits. Tell me more about the real learning benefits.
1. Great learning opportunity for someone who’s interested in SaaS products, digital marketing, client servicing, etc.
2. 24/7 access to many SaaS MarTech tools we use daily (Drift, ActiveCampaign, Typeform, Mouseflow, etc.) that can help you become a digital marketing savant

3. A chance to work with a global team across the Atlantic as well as interact directly with our ministry partners that are helping to fulfill the Great Commission
4. 1:1 bi-weekly mentoring from our CEO to help you grow in your career today and lead a company in the future
4. 1:1 bi-weekly mentoring from our CEO to help you grow in your career today and lead a company in the future
5. Working with our fun and gracious team with whom you’ll definitely enjoy going on annual international team trips!
All that sounds good, but how will I know if I’m a good fit?
We hate jargon such as self-motivated, proactive, team player, etc. What do those terms really mean anyway? We’re intentional in adding a teammate because we can run only as fast as the slowest member of our team.
This role is a good fit only for those who can handle these 10 commandments daily:
1. We believe that everything we do is unto the Lord, and we’re accountable to Him for it. If you don’t believe the same, we totally understand that and thank you for reading thus far.
1. We believe that everything we do is unto the Lord, and we’re accountable to Him for it. If you don’t believe the same, we totally understand that and thank you for reading thus far.
2. We’re far from perfect and have many shortcomings, but by God’s grace, our team has had a zero-ego policy from day one. If you can’t leave your ego at the door, it might not be worth knocking or trying to enter.
3. As marketers, our primary enemy is mediocrity. We’ll hold you (and ourselves) to the highest standard. If excellence isn’t your pal, chances are we won’t be either.
4. Iron sharpens iron daily at 40 Parables. We depend on honest, constructive, and critical feedback to refine our sabres. If you can’t handle feedback, you might not be able to handle our efforts to enter through the narrow door.
5. You’ll get to unlearn and relearn almost everything you know about marketing. A posture of humility, a keen ear for listening, and an attitude of lifelong learning are mandatory for marketers like us.
That’s great! I love to learn, and I’m already learning a lot about what this role will look like. Please keep going.
6. Extreme ownership is a value that we aim to live out daily. We’re looking for people who are mindful of the big picture and can responsibly see things through entirely.
7. We always echo Nicholas Hayek’s quote – “Everything we do and the way we do everything sends a message.” That’s why we love people who pay attention to detail and have their heads in the game.

8. Plans are disposable, but planning is essential. Ask 2020 if it was prepared for a pandemic! This role is a Marie Kondo magnet for those who are good at organizing, project management as well as being good stewards of and productive with their time.
9. We collaborate best with those who ask questions and challenge the status quo, not those who blindly take orders and follow the crowd on the broad road to mediocrity.
So,
So,
10. Finally, we’d prefer if you had decent digital marketing experience or can pick up really, really, really (hoping you got the emphasis) fast. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at it for 2 or 20 years; we want someone we can pass things on to, rely on, and move on.
I’m excited and would love to apply for this role. Tell me, how do I get started?
Unlike the usual careers posting, this page (deliberately) doesn’t have a call-to-action button titled APPLY. If you’re ready to apply, cross the chasm of creativity and find a way to apply. That will show us how ready you are and whether you have what it takes to get the job (done).
There's a seat at our table with your name on it and some marketing activities that won’t coordinate by themselves. We hope to hear from you soon so that this conversation can be a real one with you.
