Marketing holidays

Should daily blogs post on public holidays, too?

A recent discussion got me wondering if we’re looking at it the right way.

There are some of us (myself included) who either have a daily blog or post thought leadership content daily on social media channels such as LinkedIn.

However, a massive majority in that group don’t post on holidays such as the 4th of July.

I did the math and the usual approach didn’t add up or make sense.

I post a marketing blog post every single weekday, which is 261 times a year.

There are 11 public holidays annually, which is just 4.2% of the weekdays in a year.

Writing an extra blog post 11 times annually is going to take less than 5% additional effort.

The upside is that your post will be one of the few that show up in inboxes on public holidays.

But most content creators don’t post on public holidays mainly because they’re off on those days.

Their lens of content creation sees more of themselves than their readers who often read on public holidays, too.

If you think about your readers and the increased potential on public holidays, you’ll definitely post 261 times a year, not 250!

Drafting an additional post and scheduling it for your day off is common, I mean, rare sense!

Takeaway

There are no marketing holidays even if you’re off on public holidays.
