Murder, she emailed
Fri, May 21, 2021
Threaded conversations in an email? Wow!
That was my reaction when I first got a Gmail account in 2005.
What a shift from Yahoo! Mail where each reply opened up as a new email.
I’ve used email even as a mini CRM and task manager by leaving undone tasks as unread emails till the days of HubSpot and Asana.
Then I got WhatsApp in 2010 and used that to replace emails because chat messages flew faster.
We even used WhatsApp at work for communication.
Chat messages then got replaced by voice notes.
Professional needs at work meant that Slack took over our office chat from WhatsApp in 2015.
But relaying visual information via chat on Slack was slowing us down.
That was when Descript scripted the arrival of asynchronous communication via video in 2020.
You can see that a newbie has successfully challenged the incumbent communication boss and format every 5 years.
Email may still be alive today, but she started dying in 2010.
