The immigrant marketer

Immigration is a hot political topic and a great marketing example, too.

In FY 2017, the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) received over 22 million applications for the green card lottery.

However, only 50,000 green cards were approved from this list.

The annual rejection rate is a staggering 99.8%.

Most brand marketers are playing a similar immigration game.

They’re trying to file for permanent residency in the minds of their prospects so that they can stay for long and prosper in the land of milk and honey.

It takes 3–10 years and a huge investment of time, effort, and money to become a citizen of the country and a permanent fixture in the land.

This long-term vision then catalyzes the lives of these people and their families as well as future generations.

But marketers and salespeople who can’t think that far are still trying to dangle a $499 course behind a free ebook.

Takeaway

Procuring permanent residency and citizenship in the mind of prospects isn’t for the faint-hearted immigrant marketer.

Are you patient, willing, and fixing your eyes on the long-term goal? Let me know.

Never let a short-term desire get in the way of a long-term goal.
