Cars v Motorcycles

I could see the wheels turning in Caleb’s head when a cop zipped by in his Harley, and I knew a question was incoming.

“Dad, when I grow up, can you get me a motorcycle?”

“I thought you liked cars.”

“No, motorcycles are better because they can accelerate faster than cars when they start, and it’s also easier to turn them around. That’s why cops use them. They’re smart.”

I’ve seen smaller brands hesitating to take on the Goliaths in their space fearing they’d get crushed.

Without realizing it, my 3-year-old just explained to me the advantage of speed and pivot that smaller brands have over bigger brands.

Most smaller brands are blessed with the ability to start something faster than an established brand and to pivot swiftly to an MVP that the market mandates.

Yet, many stay away from the challenge and lose the battle before it even begins.

Don’t despise the day of small beginnings because a small stone can be thrown a lot farther away than a big rock.

Takeaway

Every big brand was once a small brand that decided to take on bigger brands.

If your brand is still small, are you hesitating to take on the Goliaths in your space? Drop me an email and share your thoughts.

A big business starts small.
