Free trial by fire

My hunt for a good productivity tool was on trial this week.

I’ve experimented with a few, and most of them haven’t worked out the way I hoped or seemed to be too expensive.

Importantly, the data seemed promising in the first couple of days but wasn’t as helpful after a month.

I finally found one I thought could be it and saw that there was a 7-day trial.

I wrote an email appreciating them for their tool and asking if I could get a longer free trial of 2–4 weeks instead of just one.

I got a curt response. “We currently don’t offer a longer option; we’ve found 7 days is enough to judge whether the tool is valuable or not.”

Isn’t the purpose of a free trial to help the prospect explore the tool at his convenience?

If I’d gotten a longer trial and liked the product, I’d have surely begun subscribing to it.

Takeaway

If you want to be rigid in life, consider picking people and prospects over your pricing and plans.

Would you let an interested prospect have a longer free trial or stick to your free trial terms? Click here and share your thoughts.

Care enough to create value for customers. If you get that part right, selling is easy.
