Plan v Planning
Tue, Nov 03, 2020
Marketing is methodical yet messy.
Case in point, today – Election Day!
Two campaigns have been trying to influence you for over a couple of years with one singular call to action.
While the road to the destination was known upfront, the journey was filled with ups and downs for both candidates.
Campaigns rarely go according to plan, and yet, many marketers and clients are rarely prepared to handle the unexpected when reaching out to prospects.
Very few brands have viable marketing plans, but even those who do often lack the structure for success and the freedom for flexibility.
Marketers and agencies are often misaligned with clients over the expectations of a campaign’s final outcome.
The biggest reason is that we often depend on certain predefined plans more than the planning process itself.
Real marketing is about the process, not about the plans and the reasoning, and not about the results.
Takeaway
Regardless of who becomes our next President, who do you think ran a better and planned campaign? I’d like to know.
