The real Mr. Potato Head

In 1774, a king sought salvation in an unusual savior.

Potato!

Prussia was reeling under a famine, and King Frederick realized that it could stop the rising deaths from starvation.

The orders went out – tubers, come forth! But this royal decree was not welcomed with open (f)arms.

Peasants opposed growing potatoes, claiming they ‘looked dirty’ and weren’t flavorful.

But the ‘Potato King’ was a man with a (marketing) plan!

He identified the need, understood his audience, and believed in his product.

He then led the way with action and planted these spuds in his own garden.

It wasn’t long before his subjects snuck in for a peek and snuck out with a handful of the newly crowned royals.

The stolen spuds soon began sprouting up all over the nation, saving lives, and became a staple in the nation’s diet.

Frederick the Great, (as he was rightfully called), seeded a concept called repositioning when he transformed an ugly root into a tasty vegetable!

Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
