Prestige. Price. Peanut better.

“Let’s watch a movie,” my friend said when my wife and I met up with him at his house.
“Any suggestions?” he quipped.
“The Prestige,” I replied, “It’s my favorite.”
He checked and said, “But it costs $4.99 on Amazon Prime. Isn’t there any other good one for free?”
Soon we discarded the movie idea, but within a few minutes, my wife said, “I feel like having a milkshake.”
“Let’s all go to Sonic. It’s on me!” my friend jumped in.
The thirst in me longed for the #SonicPeanutButterShake, but the marketing hunger in me stopped me in my tracks.
What just happened?
My friend didn’t want to spend $4.99 to watch a $50 million grosser (ranked #37 by IMDB) that would have engaged us for over 2 hours without us having to move an inch.
But he was ready to spend double that amount to drive to the nearest Sonic and buy shakes for all of us that we’d gulp down in 2 minutes.
Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.
Takeaway
- It’s not just about value for money. Your offering also has to be in your prospect’s immediate interest.
- Sales takes care of the former, marketing takes care of the latter.
Have you ever objected to an offering just because of the price even though it was a steal? Drop me an email and let me know!
