Is your ministry online or digital?
Mon, Apr 27, 2020
I’m glad COVID-19 is forcing us to step up.
But what does it mean for your ministry to go online or digital?
Getting online means getting onto the Internet. Going digital involves upgrading your entire format.
In other words:
- If you’re connected to the Internet, you’re online
- If you’re connected with those who are online, you’re digital
Has a church gone digital just because it managed to stream its Sunday service online last weekend?
NO!
A weekend service in person meant that people who met the pastor would ask questions. Now anyone can ask questions all week via social media/email.
Is that pastor prepared to answer the congregants this time, too?
Ministries typically engage specific segments of society. Is it enough for ministries to digitize their offering?
Not having the right metrics to measure digital engagement would be like pouring old wine into new wineskins.
