Aim, lock, fire!

If you want to be a good marketer, try learning archery. ?

Here are 5 hallmarks of sharp marketers and archers from a #ThrowbackThursday post from last year:

1. Work out when not working:

Lifting heavy bows and shooting arrows quickly require strong arms. They work out their arms in the downtime to be ready for the big moments.

2. Shut out the rest of the world:

Aiming well requires the eyes to be on the target. The best in business close one eye to focus on the bull’s eye instead of the other archers or competitors.

3. Take the time:

It’s tempting to shoot far and fast but what counts is the outcome, not the output. The professionals resist the temptation for more and take the time to do it right.

4. Draw back to fly forward:

Instead of shooting repeatedly and aimlessly, the expert’s string hand is drawn back to the face to retain shape and released seamlessly to hit the center of the target. ?

5. Rip and repeat:

Finally, when the timing is right, they let one rip and quickly gather the next arrow to repeat the process.

Takeaway

Marketing can be learned from almost everything you do if that’s really your aim.

Let me know if an unlikely source made you a better marketer.

A good archer is known not by his arrows but by his aim.
